The 15th Annual SBHS Career/Job Expo is coming to South Burlington Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Just as in previous years, this event will take place in the SBHS gymnasium from 9:50 a.m. to 2 p.m. This school-wide function brings students, parents and educators together with employers from all over Vermont for a single day of fun and excitement. The 15th annual event will embark on many firsts including more prizes, new company representatives, and the presence of over 85 local companies—a new record! 

If you’re a freshman or sophomore, listen up! Do you eagerly wait for new episodes of Law & Order or Grey’s Anatomy to appear on television, dreaming of being just like those professionals? Do you think about the day you’ll be become a crime-stopping author like Castle? It’s never too late to be thinking about a future career! You can meet all sorts of professionals at the EXPO from doctors and engineers to business officials. The EXPO offers an extraordinary opportunity to begin exploring career pathways and talking with professionals about college options, employment, shadowing, and scholarship opportunities. Stop by the gymnasium during all lunches for this golden opportunity. This year’s event will have enough career options to spark everyone’s interests!

If you’re getting ready to sit down and get cracking on your SATs and college applications, you must be a junior or senior, then this event has your name written all over it! With college just a short time away, the EXPO stands as a golden opportunity for you to plan beyond college for your successful future as a professional. Hop on down to the gymnasium Tuesday, April 1 to speak directly with individuals in a quiet atmosphere—the most tranquil part of the crazy day! You can even stop by during your lunchtime to start building connections. Your time at the EXPO will serve as your chance to speak with businesses representatives about their college majors, and explore career options and interning/shadowing opportunities that suit you best. You can even take this time to make connections with people in your favored profession to help secure summer employment, college advice or other future prospects. The EXPO is your doorway to endless opportunities that can go well beyond your four years at SBHS.

The goal of the EXPO is to make students aware of career opportunities in a variety of industries and professions and to present shadowing and internship opportunities to interested and qualified students. Tuesday, April 1 will be an especially informative day for all participants. Plan to attend, and better yet, bring your parents!
