Fifth graders in South Burlington learn about making healthy choices through DARE, the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs and alcohol. DARE School Resource Officer, Corporal Kevin Grealis, recently graduated the fifth grade students at Chamberlin School. Along with weekly classes, students are asked to write a culminating essay on their learning about drugs, alcohol, and how to use the DARE decision making model to support a healthy lifestyle. A student from each class is chosen as the winner of the essay contest. An acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, the DARE program has been implemented in South Burlington for the past 20 years.
