The second season of Special Talents Adaptive Recreation (S.T.A.R.) Basketball, held at the Edge in Essex, wrapped up on Saturday, February 16. The program is made up of players with special needs ages 4 to 21. Players come from all over Northern Vermont and are matched with buddies—many of whom play youth basketball in South Burlington. A number of SB S.T.A.R. players also participated, including: Allie Dubuque, Wolfie Desseau, Keyshawn Brochu, Brian Blais, Joe Saunders, and Will Capano.
Each session is spent working on a different skill and putting those skills to use in scrimmages and games. Several players from the University of Vermont Men’s Basketball team also attended the last session, playing with the kids during their end of year celebration.
