New England Sports Representatives (NESR), one of the ski industry’s largest trade associations, has just recognized Alpine Shop of South Burlington as the “Best Ski Shop in New England” for 2016. This prestigious award was the result of an extensive vetting, nomination and voting process done annually by the ski industry’s NESR Association. It was presented to the owners of Alpine Shop, Andy and Becky Kingston, at the ski industry’s annual buying show and awards banquet in Providence, Rhode Island.
“The Alpine Shop has been around for over 52 years but my wife and I have only owned it for the past five,” said Kingston. “Since my previous companies were in the music and media industries we had a lot to learn. But this award is more about our incredible staff who are some of the best ambassadors for skiing and snowboarding in the industry. Plus, they live and breathe our store’s mantra of ‘forward positivity.’ Whether it is music, media or skiing, we quickly learned that it is all about entertainment and our staff makes sure that every customer leaves with a smile on their face.”
Since 1963, local, family-owned, Alpine Shop has encouraged Vermont families to “Ski Today, Work Tomorrow.” The store’s Swiss-chalet exterior houses over 15,000 feet of showrooms and is well known for its ski lease program, as well as carrying year-round gear and apparel for all types of adventurers.
Will Masson, President of the NESR added, “Each year the New England Sports Reps organization picks the top ski shop of the year. This is awarded to the retailer that really goes above and beyond in terms of selection, merchandising, sales person’s knowledge and overall presentation. The Alpine Shop set the new standard and we were proud to award them the Best Alpine Ski Shop for 2016.”
