In an annual 9/11 tradition 13 years in the making, members of the community joined South Burlington Fire Fighters and Police Officers at Overlook Park Thursday, September 11. The remembrance ceremony honored the public safety personnel who gave their lives during the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. The park, with Lake Champlain in the distance, provided a striking backdrop as the Color Guard presented the flag. Music was provided by The Champlain Echoes acapella group. Speakers reflected on the heroic deeds of those that perished while trying to protect the lives of others, and words of recognition and gratitude were offered in appreciation for the continued service of South Burlington’s dedicated first responders.
