Members of the South Burlington community gathered recently to share food and conversation at the second Around-the-World Dinner, a new tradition of the South Burlington School District (SBSD) Healthy Schools program and Nutritional Services. Guests tasted foods from Armenia, Iraq, Japan, Lebanon, Poland, and the Farm-to-Fork Nutritional Services Program that brings fresh fare from local farms into the schools. All recipes came from students, staff, and families in SBSD, with the tempura dish prepared by the Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School (FHTMS) Junior Iron Chef Team Straight Outta Tuttle. Additional volunteers for the event were from the FHTMS Junior Iron Chef program, the University of Vermont, and Common Roots.
The event invited one of the guests to reflect, “What fun and a super way to promote unity through something we all love – food!”
