The Third Annual Stefan Pierson Memorial Soccer Tournament was held July 14 at the University of Vermont (UVM). Soccer may have been the sport of the day, but the word of the day was spirit. People, on the field and off, including an SBHS alumni team, pictured here, gathered in Pierson’s name to help others battle cancer, to “Conquer the Day,” the name of the Stefan Pierson Foundation as inspired by Pierson’s legacy of courage and determination. Pierson, was a 2011 graduate of South Burlington High School and captain of both the varsity soccer and alpine skiing teams. Proceeds from Saturday’s tournament benefit young adults in their fight against cancer at the UVM Medical Center. For more information, visit conquertheday.org.
