Singer/songwriter Tyler Daniel Bean was the sole Vermont artist included in the April 2013 issue of Alternative Press, featuring 100 BANDS YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS YEAR. Tyler is a graduate of South Burlington High School, where he played drums in the Orchestra, bass in the Jazz Band, and had a number of outside musical collaborations that helped form his style. He is now a senior at Burlington College finishing his degree in Writing/Literature and working on songs for a new album. He will be touring after graduation from Burlington College this spring.
Bean’s November 2012 release “Longing” (Kat Kat records) impressed the AP editors with its honesty -- “Bean’s first solo endeavor… open up his relationship and personal failings for all to consume”.
“They are all about particular people,” Bean says of his songs. “But all of them have this universal element that I think is accessible to anyone in any situation.”
In addition to writing, recording, and performing, Bean has been a long-term volunteer/staff member at Burlington’s city-funded 242 Main all ages music venue--handling sound, booking shows and as an instructor at the after-school and summer Rock Camps.
