South Burlington Community Library is hosting the first annual “Book Night Out @ Your Library” on Wednesday, April 15, 4-8 p.m. This free event is open to all ages and features authors of adult, teen and children’s books, along with a scavenger hunt, refreshments and a performance.
Over a dozen local, published authors will sell and sign their books while talking with readers and potential authors about the art, craft and agony of writing and publishing. Curious George will be present to meet young participants and, at 6:30 p.m., the UVM Top Cats perform.
“Book Night Out” is a family-friendly celebration of National Library Week. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. This year’s theme is “Unlimited Possibilities @ Your Library” and the South Burlington Library event celebrates area authors and the unlimited topics and styles of writing they use to transform our worlds.
Participating authors include Eric Best, Tim Brookes, Dede Cummings, Roberta A. Harold, Tammy F. Hetrick, Ron Krupp, Dayna Lorenz, Daniel Lusk, Maggie McGinnis, Marilyn Neagley, Angie Palm, Sarah Girrell Paquette, Bill Schubart, Shelagh Shapiro, Nancy Means Wright, and members of the Burlington Writers’ Workshop.
