The search for a new permanent City Manager is well on its way to completion.
The 10 member search committee has worked aggressively to narrow the field to four final candidates to be presented to the Council in September.
Search Committee Chair Lisa Ventriss provided an update at a recent city council meeting. Ventriss reported that there were 49 applications received for the position. An initial screening brought the number of applicants to 30, after which the candidates were ranked according to key criteria. The final applicant pool was then narrowed to five candidates for further consideration, and reference and background checks were completed.
The committee has now recommended four final candidates to be presented to the full council for interviews which are scheduled to run September 5 -13. The candidates will also meet with department heads and staff.
Community members are invited to meet each of the finalists for the City Manager position at separate Meet and Greet sessions, which have been scheduled for September 5,9,12 and 15 from noon to two p.m.
