Recent South Burlington High School graduate Aster O’Leary stands behind Senator Bernie Sanders as he delivers Vermont’s roll call vote at the Democratic National Convention held July 25 to 28 in Philadelphia. O’Leary, a pledged Sanders delegate is one of the youngest delegates chosen to attend the Democratic Convention.
O’Leary was selected to respond on behalf of the Vermont delegates during the convention’s roll call to tally each state’s vote. Her response, “Vermont passes,” prepared the way for Senator Sanders to accept Hillary Clinton’s nomination by acclamation at the end of the roll call vote of states.
O’Leary was selected in 2015 to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Green Mountain Girls State and was one of the two Vermont students to attend Girls Nation in Washington, D.C. This fall, O’Leary will be attending Rice University in Houston, Texas.
