Deadline for Residents Seeking Election at March Town Meeting DayWith the annual Town Meeting, March 4, 2014 fast approaching, there are deadlines of which residents should be aware: Monday, January 27 (corrected date) is the last day for City Council, School Board, City Clerk and Water Commissioner candidate petitions and consent forms to be filed in the City Clerk’s office, by 5 p.m. Petitions need at least 30 signatures of South Burlington voters. Forms can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office, Dorset Street, SB.
The following seats are open:
City Council – 2 year term currently held by Pam Mackenzie
City Council – 3 year term currently held by Rosanne Greco
School Board School Board – 3 year term currently held by Julie Beatty
School Board – 2 year term currently held by Dan Fleming
City Clerk – 3 year term currently held by Donna Kinville
Water Commissioner – 3 year term currently held by William Szymanski
The last day for residents to register to vote is Wednesday, February 26 and City offices are open until 5:00 that day.
Voters can come in to city hall or request an absentee ballot up until the close of business Monday, March 3. All voted ballots must be back in by the close of the polls on election day, March 4.
The due date for petitions and consent forms was incorrectly reported in the 1/2/14 issue of The Other Paper. The correct date for filing is Monday, January 27. We regret the error.
