A new Subway restaurant has recently opened in South Burlington. The Subway is located just off of Williston Road at 35 White Street. One of the owners is Jamie Falkenbush, of South Burlington. Falkenbush, who graduated in the SBHS Class of 1990, is the managing member of the new location.
The Subway is the first one in the state of Vermont to have the new Metro Décor, which consists of 50 seats, free Wi-Fi, 2 flat screen televisions and soft seating for people looking to relax or work on their computer. The comfortable atmosphere lends itself well to small lunch meetings for business or pleasure.
Falkenbush graduated from the University of Vermont, where he played basketball and met his future wife, Willow, who is also a native Vermonter. After spending some time in North Carolina and Rhode Island they moved back to Vermont in 1999. Since then the family has grown with the addition of 3 boys. “Vermont is the perfect place to raise a family. I am still not a fan of the long winters, but I wouldn’t want my boys to grow up anywhere else. I loved my childhood here and the community that surrounded my family”, says Falkenbush.
The Subway location was previously the site of GT Bagels and has undertaken a serious face lift. It took a lot of hard work by a lot of great local workers.
Working closely with the owners of the location, the Chastenay family, made the project run smoothly.
Falkenbush added, “I am very excited to open this store in the city in which I grew up. I have been able to reconnect with people that I went to school with and also meet new neighbors and residents in the area. I look forward to meeting and reacquainting with many more. So please stop by and say hello.”
