A high-spirited tale of fairies and mortals brings midsummer to January this weekend in South Burlington when the Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School’s drama department, in association with the First Light Theatre Project, presents William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
A fairy king seeking revenge on his queen wreaks havoc with four young Athenian lovers who have ventured into fairy-infested woods. An amateur acting troupe in bumbling rehearsals for a supposed-to-be-tragic tale is also magically manipulated by the king. The play’s love stories are merrily affected by misunderstandings and powerful potions, but all ends happily in this enchanting comedy.
Performances are Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9 at 7 p.m. at the South Burlington High School Auditorium. The production is directed by David Bailey. To buy tickets online and for more information, go to www.firstlighttheatrevt.com.
Tickets will also be available at the door.
