Following four MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competitions held in February, the qualifiers for the 30th Vermont State MATHCOUNTS Competition were determined. The top 16 teams of sixth, seventh and eighth grade students were invited to the state competition (each team consisted of four students). In addition, the top four individuals from each chapter competition who were not members of a qualifying team were invited.
The top 4 individual winners of this competition, will make up the team that will represent Vermont in the 2013 Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition in Washington, DC, May 10-13, 2013.
The MATHCOUNTS goal is to secure America’s global competitiveness and inspire excellence, confidence and curiosity in U.S. middle school students through fun and challenging math programs, as well as to provide teachers, students and parents with free materials to aid them in math enrichment and to help them prepare students for a high-tech future that will require mathematics-related skills to achieve success.
