Ten year-old Ava Hamme from South Burlington had great success at the 25th annual United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) Championships recently held at Copper Mountain in Colorado.

Ava captured the national title in three of the five events she entered in the grommet girls division and was the only girl in her age group to win three gold medals.  Ava earned the top spot in boardercross, slalom,  and the first ever banked slalom event at USASA Nationals. Ava also placed 4th in giant slalom and 10th in slopestyle.

This is Hamme’s fourth year riding with the Smugglers Notch Ski & Snowboard club and her third consecutive year at Nationals. She competes locally at USASA events as part of the Northern Vermont Series.
