Thursday December 17, 2015

In collaboration with the Burlington School Food Project, Champlain Valley Agency on Aging, Temple Sinai, and the Elks Lodge among others, HANDS (Helping and Nurturing Diverse Seniors) will offer both a delivered meal and a sit-down dinner again this year. “Between the meal delivery throughout Chittenden County and the sit-down dinner at the Elks Club, we’re hoping to provide meals and gift bags for 400 seniors on Christmas Day,” explained HANDS Executive Director Megan Humphrey.

The FREE 11th Annual Holiday Dinner will be held on Christmas Day, December 25, anytime from Noon-3:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge at 925 North Avenue in Burlington. There will be a special gathering there at 1:00 for seniors. If you are over 50 years of age and would like transportation, please call Megan Humphrey at 864-7528 or email meganjhumphrey@gmail.com.

To reserve a free meal, of either ham or vegetarian lasagna, delivered to your home in Chittenden County, please call Champlain Valley Agency on Aging at 865-0360 by December 17. After December 17, please call Megan Humphrey at 864-7528 or email meganjhumphrey@gmail.com. “I’m grateful that we live in a community like ours with many volunteers and organizations coming together to make this happen,” explained Ms. Humphrey.  For more information or to donate, please check www.handsvt.org.
