RM Central School PTO Hosts a Community Build

What a summer of success for the RMCS Playground Legacy Project! Phase 1 of the playground will be built September 6. And you can be a part of building it!

In July, the School Board awarded Pettinelli and Associates, located in Williston, the playground contract for Phase 1. Phase 1 has a separate rock climbing structure and a play structure that will be ramped up to the 5-foot platform. Play panels, climbers, and slides attach to this platform. There is easy access every 12 ft to help a child who may be in need of assistance.

This will be South Burlington’s only fully accessible, all-inclusive playground and Chittenden County’s single largest structure. The playground will serve the whole community of South Burlington and the surrounding communities. Even if the school is sold, the playground is movable so that is of no concern for the future of the playground.

The fundraising for the project is more than halfway to its goal. Over the summer there was over $12,000 raised, bringing the total to $72,200! Phase 1 is cost is $65,000 and there is just $57,800 left to fundraise to be able to complete Phase 2 of the project.

The RMCS PTO is organizing a community build so that members of the community can sign up to help through a website called, Sign Up Genius: If volunteers would rather sign up directly, they can sign up by emailing There will be 2 4-hours shifts, one from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and the other from 12 - 4 p.m. Bring a shovel and a great attitude! The group is looking for about 30 people per shift.

You can follow the project on the RMCS PTO website

Donations towards the Phase 2 completion are welcome and can be made by mailing a check made out to RMCS PTO Playground with “playground” in the memo section to 10 Market Street, South Burlington, VT 05403.
