Long-time South Burlington City employees Tom Hubbard and Todd Goodwin have been promoted to permanent positions.
Since May 2013 Hubbard has been serving as Interim Deputy City Manager and Goodwin as Interim Director of Recreation and Parks; both men will now be serving permanently in their respective roles.
“Tom Hubbard and Todd Goodwin stepped up to take on additional roles in City Government in recent months to support a transition to new City management,” said Dorn.
“They have both performed exceptionally well in these roles and so my first official action as the new City Manager was to promote Tom and Todd to permanent roles.”
Mr. Hubbard has worked for the City of South Burlington for over 34 years starting as Assistant Director of Recreation and Parks and then serving as Director. Hubbard is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and has held a variety of positions in state and national professional organizations. He has been recognized by his peers on numerous occasions for his leadership in the field of recreation and parks management. Under Hubbard’s guidance, the department received local and national recognition and honors for excellence. Family Circle magazine named South Burlington as ‘Best Town for Families’ in 2008, and during his tenure South Burlington was named the #1 Sports Town in Vermont by Sports Illustrated magazine. Mr. Hubbard has been an active member of the community serving with multiple organizations including the Rotary and Lions Clubs and numerous youth and adult athletic programs.
Todd Goodwin graduated from the South Burlington school system and attended the University of Vermont. Goodwin began his employment with the City of South Burlington in 1980 as a part-time playground leader with the Recreation Department. He has served as Assistant Director of Recreation and Parks since 2003. Goodwin has served as a leader in his professional organizations and has received numerous awards and recognition. South Burlington Rotary awarded Goodwin with the Frederick H Tuttle Award in 2010; he has also received the Vermont Recreation and Park Association’s President’s Award, the Brungardt Outstanding Professional Award, and the Sports Illustrated Community Champion Award.
“A number of our city employees stepped up to take on added responsibility during these transition months; Tom and Todd among them,” said Dorn. “Tom and Todd have many years of service to the community, are well known by members of the public, have proven leadership abilities and a long-time commitment to South Burlington.” “Both men will do an outstanding job in their new roles.”
