Love is in the air in the month of February…and at Chamberlin School, it’s a love for reading and writing! The annual Family Night was a great success. Coinciding with our Scholastic Book Fair, it was an evening of food and fun. Guest readers included members of the UVM hockey team and the Opels with their very popular therapy dogs, Fiona and Pippa. As a fundraiser for our 5th grade Fun Day, parents coordinated a spaghetti dinner and bake sale. Throughout the month of February, students have also been participating in a home reading challenge. We are reading hard to reach a schoolwide goal of 50,000 minutes to purchase books for the King Street Youth Center in Burlington. Other literacy events included participating in Vermont Writes Day on February 7th, when the entire school wrote for 7 minutes, and Drop Everything And Read, which will happen throughout the week of February 20th.
