The “Move Over” awareness campaign was formed after a May 10, 2014 crash that killed Officer Michael Petrina, who was only 25 years of age. Officer Petrina was a Nashville, Tennessee Metro Police Officer who was investigating an accident on Interstate 65. A motor home driver struck him even though drivers had a two-mile notice.
This campaign was started by Colonel Tracy Trott of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. He posted a photograph on his twitter account holding a sign that simply stated “MoveOver”. The campaign quickly gained widespread attention.
Please, if you see emergency vehicles on the side of the road or up ahead, slow down and #MoveOver.
