At a gathering of classmates and friends at the Saint Michael’s College Reunion 2013, Eileen O’Rourke, a 1983 graduate of Saint Michael’s, was named Alumna of the Year for her class. Ms. O’Rourke, a resident of South Burlington, is a Human Resources executive for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington.
Angela Armour, Saint Michael’s director of alumni and parent relations, presented the award at ceremonies held June 8 on the campus.
Ms. O’Rourke has worked in Human Resources for most of her career. She has been an HR executive at Bombardier, Penn Traffic and P&C Foods, and currently for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington. She also owns her own company, HR 4 Sight, LLC.
Ms. O’Rourke has been a very active alumna since graduating, serving a four-year term on the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors from 2004-2008, and as a member of the board’s Career Development subcommittee. She worked to expand participation in the Career Advisory Network, while increasing internship opportunities and paid summer employment for current students.
Ms. O’Rourke assisted the college’s Career Development Office as a practice interviewer and mentor to students as they embark on job searches. She has also served on important search committees on campus, representing the alumni perspective. She co-chaired her 25th Reunion in 2008 and her 30th this year. She’s been a long-time benefactor of the College and a President’s Medallion Society member for the past six years.
An avid golfer, Ms. O’Rourke plays in the Green Mountain Scholar Golf Classic each year which financially supports Vermont students who attend Saint Michael’s. She also serves on the board of St. Ann’s Shrine in Isle La Motte, Vermont.
