Two South Burlington High School (SBHS) baseball standouts, Connor Bradley and Patrick McMackin, represented Vermont in the 2015 Twin State Baseball Classic played this June in Nashua, New Hampshire. The annual matchup between the border rivals, resuming after an 11-year absence, pitted seniors from Vermont’s four divisions and division’s three and four from the much larger Granite State. The two SBHS seniors helped the Green Mountain State to a doubleheader split with New Hampshire. New Hampshire held on to win the lidlifter, 3-2, while Vermont bounced back with a 5-4 win in game two.
McMackin was the game one starter on the mound hurling two innings with Bradley coming in to relieve him for the next two frames. Bradley went three-for-three in the two games and had Vermont’s only extra-base hit in the second game, a run-scoring triple to deep left field. McMackin played the last three innings of the nightcap at first base.
The pair helped the Rebels earn a trip to the Vermont Division I Baseball semifinals this season for the second straight year and both were named to the first team All-Metro League for their efforts. Bradley will attend the University of Vermont in the fall and McMackin will head to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
