After the devastation Hurricane Sandy brought to the shores of New York and New Jersey, the students at Tuttle Middle School wanted to help. Through Student Council, a Penny War fundraiser was initiated. This type of fundraiser creates a competitive spirit while also raising money for a worthy cause. The collective efforts of Tuttle Middle School generated $1,624.74 in donations. This total amount reflects the efforts of all the grades in the school and is truly admirable. The recipient of this donation is the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department in Broad Channel, NY. The fire department lost all of its emergency equipment and the firehouse was badly damaged. The students of Tuttle Middle School hope that this donation will help them rebuild. The teachers and staff at the school want to publicly thank the students and their parents for their incredible generosity.
