Thursday September 08, 2016

September 11, 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of 9/11, a day to honor the public safety personnel who gave their lives during the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on the same day in 2001. This Sunday, September 11, the public is invited to join the South Burlington Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Service Providers, and Police Officers in a remembrance ceremony honoring those who were lost. The annual ceremony, organized by the South Burlington Fire Department, will be held at Overlook Park at 7 p.m. With Lake Champlain providing a striking backdrop, the Color Guard will present the flag, words of recognition and gratitude will be shared in appreciation of the dedicated service of South Burlington’s own first responders, and The Champlain Echoes will perform patriotic songs. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at Station 1, 575 Dorset Street.
