Reflecting on his successful completion of the 26.2 mile course, which is one of six World Marathon Major races, McHenry said, “It wasn’t just cold and wet, but there was also a 20 mph head wind the entire way. It was not a good day for fast times! Most of us had to run based on effort, and ignore the slow times on our watches. The top runners were around 8 minutes slower than usual. I had Bob Seger’s “Against the Wind” going through my head. Most people wore hats, jackets and ponchos to hold off hypothermia, but I did see at least one guy running with shorts only. I don’t know if he survived.”

Other South Burlington finishers in the April 16 race are Lexie Kaknes, Courtney Kutler, Lauren Cady, Liz Champagne, and Terry Brennan.
