Lizzy Saward of South Burlington has transferred to the University of Vermont where she will be playing as a forward on the 2014 Field Hockey team. She was recruited from St. Lawrence University.

Saward spent her first two collegiate seasons at St. Lawrence, and led the squad there with seven goals and 17 points last year. Previously, she attended South Burlington High School, where she was a team captain and helped lead the Rebels to a Vermont state title in 2010. During her time at SBHS, she was elected to the Liberty League All-Star Honorable Mention Team as a sophomore, earned All-State and All-Metro honors and, in 2012, was named to the VT Twin State Team.

Saward is the daughter of David Saward and Rebecca Day. Her mother attended UVM and competed on the cross country and track & field teams. Her father is the head men’s soccer coach at Middlebury College. Saward is a junior At UVM, majoring in political science.
