The South Burlington Rebels boys cross country team capped off their season with a dominant victory in the Thetford State Championships this past Saturday, placing all varsity runners within the top-20 spots. The Rebel’s score of 33 points put them two points shy of the lowest score for South Burlington in the past twenty years. The field was dominated by a familiar pack of faces for the Rebels, who featured Malcolm Plunkett finishing 2nd overall, Tommy Royer and Pat Hickey finishing 5th and 6th respectively, Sean Macdonald in 8th, and James Gregoire in 12th. There was no question to contestants and coaches that South Burlington won the day. “I couldn’t be prouder of my guys!” said an exuberant head coach Geoff Bennett. Congratulations to the South Burlington boys cross-country team and head coach Geoff Bennett on an outstanding 2012 season and a well-deserved state championship victory!
