Here’s an easy way to recycle your Christmas tree and help support the South Burlington High School music students in their next international adventure.
The band students at South Burlington High School have been traveling internationally for the past 6 years. With the support of SBHS administration, parents, and an outstanding tour director, South Burlington band students have had the opportunity to travel to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal. They have performed for audiences young and old, and have experienced the thrill of the Coliseum in Rome, the canals of Venice, the Parthenon in Athens, beautiful Greek islands, ruins in Turkey, flamenco dancers in Spain and Seville, monkeys on Gibraltar, and the dramatic cliffs of Portugal!
This year, the band students are planning a concert tour of Italy and Southern Germany in April 2014 and are working to raise funds to benefit scholarship students and help defray the cost of the trip. The Christmas tree pick-up fundraiser is one of many efforts.
Trees will be picked up in all South Burlington neighborhoods for a $10 donation on Saturday, January 4 and 11. Please make your check out to “SBHS Music,” put it in an envelope and plastic sandwich bag and attach it to your tree. Just put your tree by the curb no later than 10:00 a.m. on the morning of Jan. 4 or 11, and a music student will take care of the rest! Trees will be brought to the generating plant in the Intervale and will be repurposed into fuel!
Condo and apartment dwellers- please bring your tree to the front of your development and leave it there by the curb. It is difficult to bring a large truck into the narrow corners of the development.
If your tree is not picked up by 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, please call Kimmie at (603) 556-0876 or Christina at 373-6937 and it will be taken care of promptly. Please only call if we miss your tree….
