South Burlington High School varsity lacrosse players, Dylan Avery, Hank Collins and Kyle Murakami recently participated in the Canadian Field Lacrosse Championship in Longueuil, Quebec where each province sent their best to compete for the annual Canadian National Title. As invited players of Team Quebec the three boys contributed an impressive 23 points (15 goals and 8 assists) in six games with wins over Nova Scotia (11-7), Manitoba (20-14), Saskatchewan (14-11), and Alberta (11-10). Team Quebec’s only losses included British Columbia (17-2), and the Iroquois Nation (18-5). Overall Team Quebec finished in fourth place – a significant improvement over 2012’s last place finish. For the three South Burlington players, dubbed “Team USA” by their Canadian teammates, it was a unique experience they will not soon forget. They formed new friendships, learned from internationally experienced coaches and had the opportunity to play with and against top-level lacrosse teams.
