On Sunday, January 22, four members of the South Burlington Police Department marched onto the field in Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. As part of the ceremonial opening of the New England Patriots vs. The Pittsburgh Steelers AFC Championship game, the officers proudly presented the national and state colors. Corporal Gregg Jager, Corporal Jeffrey Favreau, Dectective Corporal Sarah Superneau, and Detective Corporal Andrew Johnson comprised the South Burlington Honor Guard.
“I am so honored that our ceremonial unit was chosen to represent this state on one of the biggest stages. The AFC Championship game is a huge match up and our Honor Guard is elated to present our nation’s colors. Vermont will be proud when South Burlington’s Honor Guard marches onto the field,” said Detective Corporal Johnson before the event.
After the opening ceremony, the officers watched from the sideline, as the New England Patriots secured their place in the Super Bowl. And, they were back at work on Monday morning. A job well done!
“I am honored to represent not only South Burlington Police and Vermont but women in law enforcement everywhere. This has been such a memorable experience for us all and I am so grateful to have been given such an exciting opportunity,” said long-time Patriots fan Detective Corporal Superneau.
