Members of Cub Scout Pack 22, of South Burlington, recently made a trip to Battleship Cove, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to explore the largest collection of historical Naval ships.  After touring the battleship USS Massachusetts, destroyer USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., submarine USS Lionfish, PT Boats 617 & 796, and the Russian made missile corvette Hidensee, the Scouts, their parents and adult leaders spent the night on board the famous battleship USS Massachusetts, known as “Big Mamie.”

Battleships Cove’s Nautical Nights program included a knot-tying class, storyteller, living history presenter, motion pictures and Morse Code class.

“The trip enabled the Scouts to better understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by veterans of all military branches in all wars,” said resident Steve Precourt, Cubmaster for Pack 22.
