In a 2015 Niche.com ranking, all three of South Burlington’s elementary schools received top honors. Niche evaluated 40,403 public elementary schools nationwide based upon student statistics like test scores and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students, parents, and alumni.
Of 31 Vermont public elementary schools, Rick Marcotte Central School was ranked number one, Orchard School number two, and Chamberlin School number 5. All three schools received an A+ for district experience and a B- for student culture and diversity. Central and Orchard received A’s in the areas of teachers and academics, while Chamberlin received A-’s.
Niche is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based firm that ranks K-12 schools and colleges nationwide. According to Niche, their ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall experience at public elementary schools by using data sourced from various government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data, and opinion-based survey responses. A high ranking in overall experience generally indicates that the school is an exceptional academic institution in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes.
