This Christmas holiday season, the Essex Community Players will present Charles M. Schultz’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.  Based on the classic television special we all grew up with, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the Peanuts gang search for the true meaning of Christmas, accompanied by the familiar peanuts music of Vince Guaraldi.

South Burlington resident Betsy Jaffe returns to the Essex stage as Pig Pen in the popular Peanuts “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.  Despite comments that “You’re the only person I know who can raise a cloud of dust in a snow storm”, Pig Pen promises “In spite of my outward appearance, I will try to run a neat inn”.  This is Betsy’s third performance in Essex following “Cemetery Club” and “Sabrina” and she recently completed a run as stage manager with the Shelburne Players production of “Rumors”.  When off stage Dr. Jaffe practices as an Allergy, Asthma and Immunology specialist at Timber Lane Allergy & Asthma Associates.

South Burlington High School Language Arts and Debate team co-coach Carly Bennett, ironically takes on a role with no lines, but more than makes up for it with her antics, skating and dancing like crazy, as “Snoopy”.  Carly also performed earlier this year in Essex Players “Sabrina”.

A talented and highly energetic cast of twelve bring this holiday classic to life in four shows playing Friday, December 9 through Sunday, December 11.  Presented at Essex Memorial Hall, 5 Towers Road, Essex VT.  For tickets and info: www.essexplayers.com.
