In celebration of the season of giving, the South Burlington office of Spherion Staffing Services, a local recruiting, staffing, and workforce solutions provider, has donated $1,000 to Special Olympics Vermont as part of its annual Community Give Back program.

Spherion South Burlington franchise owner Ken Ballard selected Special Olympics Vermont as the regional program recipient to support its efforts to provide intellectually disabled children and adults with forums to build confidence and character through athletic competition. Beyond its organized sports programs and annual events, Special Olympics Vermont offers health services and skills development initiatives to its athletes and their families.

As a long-time volunteer and board member for Special Olympics Vermont, Ballard has seen first-hand how the organization prepares its athletes to succeed in life through physical, social and psychological development. Additionally, Ballard’s daughter, Sophie, competes in several of Special Olympics Vermont’s unified sports programs.

“Through the impactful results it achieves every day, Special Olympics Vermont shares our commitment to making South Burlington a better place to live and work,” said Ballard. “We are thrilled to honor Special Olympics Vermont as part of our Community Give Back program, and we look forward to exploring new opportunities throughout the coming year to further improve business and social health across the entire region.
