In collaboration with the Friends of the Library, the art teachers of South Burlington School District are happy to announce the opening of the first K-12 art show at the Friends of the Library Bookshop at the Wheeler house, 1100 Dorset Street. A sampling of student works from each of the schools has been selected to showcase the knowledge, skills, and creativity of the student artists at various levels of development. The selections demonstrate some of the best efforts of kindergarten through twelfth graders. Choosing only a few pieces was difficult! Many of the students throughout the district created pieces worthy of exhibition. Teachers look forward to displaying more work at the February, Fine Arts Dessert Concert at Frederick Tuttle Middle School, and at the Champlain Valley Regional Art Show, at the University Mall in March, as well as the Arts Festival at South Burlington High School, in April. SBSD students have made many fabulous pieces exploring imagination, observation, and abstraction, using a wide range of media. Students have been inspired by master artists, various cultures, nature, experiences and passions. Families and members of the community are invited to visit the show. The exhibition runs through the end of February. Exhibits are available for viewing between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There is an opening reception on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 5-7p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Come meet the artists and celebrate their achievements!
