The core values at Synergy Football Club (SFC) are excellence, courage, passion, wisdom, and honor. These values have served them well as their Academy Teams, SFC U11/12 and the SFC U12/13 have advanced to the U12 and U13 United States Youth Soccer Association’s 2015 Regional Championships in West Virginia. The SFC U16/17 & U18 Academy Teams have also advanced to the championships.

The SFC, started by former South Burlington resident, Coach Hugh Brown, began with two teams and 23 players in 2005. It currently has grown to seven teams and close to one hundred players. Several SFC teams feature team members from South Burlington, including Sumner Nenninger and Adin Mubarak on the SFC U11/12 Academy Team, Tommy O’Leary on the SFC U13 Academy Team, and Lucas Shaw, Chaney Nash-Gibney, Aiman Ginawi & Aidan Nygaard-Ostby on the SFC U17/18 Academy Team.
Lucas Shaw, whose team is headed to Regionals, explains what he thinks of playing for Synergy, “SFC is great because you have an opportunity to realize your dreams and goals and make the most out of your potential as a player and person. We have played in the best events across the country and even though we are from a small state our teams do very well.”

According to Coach Brown, “Every player at SFC is learning how to succeed on and away from the field and this process begins with defining what they stand for and where they are going. In fact, before a player can play for the SFC they must state their values and goals to the SFC Director.”

Indoor training is conducted from late November through mid-April and outdoor training in September, October, May, June and July at UVM’s Centennial and Virtue Fields, as well as on a private field in South Burlington. Brown adds,
“The Synergy way means training hard and making a commitment to play good, technical football, but it also means holding yourself to a high standard away from the field. The lifestyle component is just as important to a Synergy FC player as the ability to pass and receive a ball.”

Synergy players range in age from eight to 18 and they currently have seven Premier Boys Teams in the club. In July 2015, Synergy is expanding with the addition of the Girls Genesis Football Club.

Brown is proud to announce SFC has just signed a new partnership agreement with Bayern Munich, a professional club located in Munich, Germany. Several SFC players are currently participating in a U11/U12 Player Identification Program and will have the opportunity to work with the Bayern staff and earn selection to a three-week trial in Munich this summer.
