Paul Suk-Hyun Yoon has been selected for the position of Assistant Principal at Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School. Mr. Yoon was officially introduced by Tuttle Middle School Principal Karsten Schlenter at Wednesday night’s school board meeting. “We tried to mirror the process that was used for hiring Holly Rouelle and I”, Schlenter said. “We had a screening committee of 18, comprised of educators, parents, and administrators.” Online feedback was taken into consideration as well as three site visits to Yoon’s current place of employment, the High School of Commerce in Springfield, MA where he is the Assistant Principal of Academic Affairs.
After a thorough search and a competitive pool of 78 applicants, Mr. Yoon was the committee’s final selection. “He comes with a lot of experience and I think Paul will make a great addition” Schlenter said.
Mr. Yoon added that he has been overwhelmed by how inviting and welcoming the community has been so far. “I’m very excited to be here” Yoon said, “When I start at Tuttle in July, I am most looking forward to working in a community where educators are encouraged to be open and honest with each other about their areas of development and proactively figure out solutions to some of our sector’s most daunting challenges. More specifically, though, I am very excited to be working closely with a Superintendent like David and with an experienced school leader like Karsten.”
Yoon’s education includes a B.A. from Boston College, a M.Ed. in Curriculum Instruction Secondary Education History from Boston College, and a M.Ed. in Administration from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
