Future politicians from the South Burlington High School (SBHS) Young Democrats and Republicans Clubs visited the Vermont Statehouse, where they met and had discussions with the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the House, and South Burlington Representatives. The February 20 visit included a tour of the building and an opportunity for the students to sit in on committee hearings. The SBHS Young Democrats and Republicans Clubs are part of a national network of high-school and college clubs, which promotes awareness and discussion of local, state, and national issues from all political perspectives. During past election years, members of the clubs have assisted in running city presentations and debates, and in registering eligible South Burlington students to vote. All students are welcome to join. The current 2017-18 democratic president is Amelia Charboneau and the current republican president is Seth Cournoyer.
