The American Red Cross blood drive hosted by South Burlington High School’s Legacy Team in January at the St. John Vianney Parish Center was a huge success. A total of 94 productive units of blood were collected from the 107 people who came through the door.  Chair of the Legacy Team, Rob Wetmore, received a scholarship from the American Red Cross for all of his hard work in organizing the blood drive. 

Special thanks to: The American Red Cross Blood Services Staff, especially Dave Carmichael; Dunkin Donuts, especially Silvio Mazella; Dr. Shelley Crombach from Health in Focus Chiropractic Center; St. John Vianney Parish, especially Rev. Bernie Gaudreau and Cindy Rainville; 95 Triple X and WVMT, especially Paul Goldman and Jamie Scavatto; the South Burlington community; South Burlington High School, especially Principal Burke; members of the Coalition for Community Service who donated baked goods; Palace 9 Cinemas for donating movie tickets to raffle off to students; the United States Army Reserve Unit; Fredrick H. Tuttle Middle School students for putting together a public service announcement; AmeriCorps VISTA, especially Heather Vendela and Becky Angeloff; Aya Al-Namee for starting this event last year, and finally the Legacy Team whose members are: Rob Wetmore, Stephanie Carmichael, Amy Lawliss, Anisha Vadehra, Aina Rattu, Fathima Sameen, and Annellie Miller. 

Next year’s event is tentatively scheduled for January 22,2013, by the Legacy Team whose chairperson is Avni Nahar, and fellow members: Reema Sameen, Hina Rattu, Emily Camardo, and Brandon Philbrick.
