South Burlington will honor its Veterans at two events Tuesday, November 11.
Veterans, their families and the community are encouraged to attend a Veterans Day assembly at South Burlington High School at 10 a.m.
At 11:30 a.m. there will be a service at Veterans Memorial Park on Dorset St. All are Welcome!
SBHS Veterans Assembly at 10 a.m.
The City of South Burlington Veterans Committee and South Burlington High School invite all Veterans and their families, as well as the general public, to attend the annual South Burlington Veterans Day Ceremony Tuesday, November 11 at 10 a.m. in the South Burlington High School gymnasium. The assembly will pay tribute to Veterans of all wars past and present.
The South Burlington Fire Department will provide an Honor Guard and present the colors for the assembly. The SBHS Chamber Singers will sing The National Anthem, and students will share their Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) speeches. The keynote speaker is Colonel Michael Morgan, VT Air National Guard. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will present a wreath, and Veterans in attendance will be acknowledged for their service to our country.
Veterans Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m.
Following the ceremony at the high school, there will be a brief service at Veterans Memorial Park on Dorset Street at 11:30 a.m. After an invocation by Father Baltz, Retired Air National Guard Colonel, the Vermont Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will lay a wreath on the granite memorial, and the SBHS Chamber Singers will perform. A new flag, in honor of those service members Missing in Action (MIA) and Prisoners of War (POW) will be raised. Veterans of all wars will be acknowledged.
These events are open to the general public.
