A Little Libray

Residents of Brewer Parkway connect to create community, and a place for neighbors to share their love of books.

There is connection and maybe a little alchemy happening in a neighborhood near you. After all, according to the prolific author Stephen King, “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Now that the community of Brewer Parkway has its own Little Library, books in the neighborhood have a way of getting around.

Operating on the principle of “take a book - leave a book,” the Brewer Parkway Little Library gives neighbors a place to share their favorite books, from fiction to nonfiction, paperbacks to hardbacks. Built by John Simson and painted by Betty Ellis, it was installed at the end of June with help of neighbors Todd Rawlings, Mark Gabel, Susan MacLennan with daughters Mairi and Libby, Nancy Simson and Ellis. Similar neighborhood book exchanges have popped up in communities all around the world. Maybe it is time to create a little book magic on your street.
