CityFest 2015 brought neighbors together last August to celebrate South Burlington’s 150th anniversary.
Mark your calendar for CityFest 2016, Saturday, August 6, at Veterans Memorial Park on Dorset St. Organizers from the City of South Burlington along with the South Burlington Rotary Club have planned a wide range of activities, events and entertainment to appeal to everyone.
The celebration begins at 4 p.m.; shuttles will run from the parking lots of all South Burlington schools and the University Mall between 3:30 and 9:30 p.m.
Prepare to quench your thirst and satisfy your appetite with offerings from the beer garden and an assortment of food trucks.
Entertainment will be provided by The Skyriders, a high-flying world-class trampoline act, featuring Guinness World Record holder and three-time national trampoline champion Ken Kovach, along with his team of talented professional acrobats who will perform entertaining and death-defying stunts with shows at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Sambatucada!, Vermont’s own samba street band with a contagious brand of Afro-Brazilian percussion will perform at 5 p.m. Strolling entertainers will perform tricks, puppetry, gags, vaudeville and juggling acts throughout the day.
Kids of all ages will enjoy exploring the touch-a-truck display of the city’s police cars, fire and rescue trucks and public works vehicles. Family friendly activities such as bouncy slides, an obstacle course, inflatable clubhouse and face painting are planned.
Free ice skating is available at Cairns Arena from 5 – 7 p.m., and a guided tour of Wheeler Nature Center is scheduled for 4.p.m.
The Vermont Mozart Festival will finish their series in grand style with a concert beginning at 7 p.m. and concluding with a simultaneous fireworks display set to music at 8:45. Tickets for the Mozart Concert are $15, and children under 18 are free. Gates open at 5:30 and picnickers can bring their own spread, or purchase food at the venue.
