Former South Burlington State Representative Helen Head was presented the Tim McKenzie Award by Champlain Housing Trust at the organization’s Jan. 25 annual meeting.
The award was in honor of Head’s “Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Perpetually Affordable Housing.”
Presenting the award was CHT board member Sandy Dooley.
Along with noting Head’s many accomplishments, Dooley said, “Helen transformed the House General Committee from a legislative backwater to a source of meaty public policy proposals relating to critical housing and related economic issues, thereby attracting a more vigorous membership. Due to her prudent and effective leadership, the least powerful among us found in Helen a champion in the law-making branch of state government.”
Also recognized with the Tim McKenzie Award was Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
Previous winners of the award include former South Burlington City Council President and current Secretary of State Jim Condos.
