Ed Levin, Cheri Gagnon, Kevin Cahoon, Valerie LoGrippo and Jaycee Fountain on the set of “Inherit the Wind.”

The Essex Community Players presents “Inherit the Wind” by Jerome Robbins and Robert E. Lee at Memorial Hall, 5 Towers Road in Essex. The powerful and engaging drama is a fictional re-creation of the Scopes “monkey trial” of 1925 in which a Tennessee high-school science teacher was tried for including Darwin’s theories of evolution in his curriculum.

Four South Burlington residents, Kevin Cahoon, Jaycee Fountain, Cheri Gagnon, Ed Levin and Valerie LoGrippo, help tell the story which has become an American theater classic.

The play is directed by Peggy Bonesteel and produced by Connie McDonald.

In keeping with Essex Community Players’ “Essex Gives Back” charitable donation program, all proceeds from concession sales will be donated to Aunt Dot’s Place, a full-time food pantry in Essex.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 18 and 25 and Saturday Oct.19 with 2 p.m. matinees Sunday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 26. For tickets and more information, visit www.essexplayers.com.
