The Fletcher Free Library announced that Mona Tolba of South Burlington has been named a library trustee.

A researcher at the University of Vermont, Tolba holds two PhDs, in food microbiology and veterinary medicine, the latter she earned from Cairo University in Egypt, where she taught for more than 10 years.

An active member of the Arabic community in Vermont, Tolba has led Arabic language courses at both the Islamic Society of Vermont, where she has been a teacher for more than six years, and the Fletcher Free Library.

“I appreciate all the services that are offered by the Fletcher Free Library,” said Tolba. “And I would like to be the link between the library and my Arabic community, ensuring that the library provides the best services to the whole diverse community.”

The Fletcher Free Library Commission has a total of 10 members, including four library commissioners, four trustees, one staff commissioner and one mayoral designee. The library is located at 235 College Street in Burlington.
