UVM Hort Farm

Tree planting at the UVM Hort Farm in South Burlington happens annually on Green Up Day.

Every year Branch Out Burlington! sponsors an annual tree walk in June. This year’s event takes place Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m., at the University of Vermont Horticultural Research Center, 65 Green Mountain Drive.

Fondly known as the Hort Farm, visitors can access the area off of Shelburne Road by turning onto Green Mountain Drive or IDX Road and following the signs.

All are welcome on the easy walk, which takes approximately two hours. Admission is free and donations to Branch Out Burlington! are welcome. Organizers request that dogs are left home.

Burlington City Arborist V.J. Comai will be on hand to talk about the interesting specimens of trees at the Research Center and share information about tree identification. There will be plenty of time for questions.

The event is also sponsored by Burlington Department of Parks, Recreation and Waterfront.

For more information, contact V.J. Comai at 862-8245, or Margaret Skinner at 656-5440. Visit www.branchoutburlington.org for downloadable maps from previous tree walks.
