Vermont Air National Guard will conduct night flight operations through Thursday, Jan. 17.

Area residents may see and hear F-16C aircraft taking off and landing from Burlington International Airport during this time. According to the Vermont Air National Guard, the operations, which began Jan. 8, will be completed before 8 p.m.

“We are ready to fly 24/7,”said Lt. Col. Nathaniel Smith, 134th Fighter Squadron Director of Operations, “Night flying operations provide crucial training for pilots and aircraft maintainers.”

158th Fighter Wing pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct night operations and utilize times in the year when hours of darkness are earlier.
