Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine have honored Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont as one of the 2018 Best Workplaces for Women. They are the only recipient in the state. The ranking was based on anonymous survey feedback representing more than 4.5 million U.S. employees from Great Place to Work-Certified companies.
Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, analyzed women and men’s responses to over 60 different metrics, including whether people trust each other, and employees are able to reach their full human potential, no matter who they are or what they do.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont was rewarded the 20th spot on the list of small and medium size companies due to results showing that women have equally great experiences as their colleagues and the strong representation of women in the workplace and leadership positions.
“We are honored to be recognized for being among the 2018 Best Workplaces for Women,” said Don George, CEO and president Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. “Our organization is comprised of 75 percent women. Our leadership team reflects our core values and champions our approach to equity and equality with over 50 percent of the top positions being held by women. Most importantly, the entire company benefits greatly because of women in the workplace.”
“Empowering women in the workplace isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s simply good business,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Organizations can create their own equitable cultures by learning from the companies on this list, who get women’s buy-in of the mission by inspiring them to innovate and drive the company forward.”
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont was also ranked as a Best Workplace for the past five years by Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine.
