I’m writing in response to the Aug. 1, 2019, article in The Other Paper (“Permanent receivership appointed to Pillsbury senior living facility,” pg. 1) regarding the Pillsbury Manor facilities off Harborview and Allen Roads. I have enjoyed five-plus years in this supportive living environment and have never felt unsafe or experienced what were described as “horror stories” in the article. When the owner was not performing best business management practices, a team consisting of City Manager Kevin Dorn, state officials, the court and Cathedral Square all took ownership of the situation immediately and moved to correct the problems as soon as they could. I especially want to acknowledge the amazing and dedicated staff who advocated for and assisted the residents and helped get it back on track under the management of Cathedral Square. I recommend this affordable community asset to anyone considering moving into a safer home situation. Furthermore, I’m certain many other residents here would sing praises about Cathedral Square and the staff had the reporter delved deeper into this success story.
